Calling all young catechists! It’s your time to shine!
Starting with the August-September 2012 issue of Word & Life, we will be featuring young catechists who are doing their part to share our Catholic faith.
To jumpstart the Year of Faith, which will start on October 11, 2012, we will be putting the spotlight on catechists (ages 13-30) who can serve as inspiring examples to the young, as well as to the old.
As soon-to-be-canonized youth catechist Pedro Calungsod has shown, even ordinary lay people can and should spread the Word of God and teach the truths of our faith. He left his home to help missionaries make Jesus known to a pagan people in a foreign land. At the time of his martyrdom in Guam, Calungsod was probably only 17 years old.
If you or someone you know can be our featured young catechist, send us your/their story, together with your name, age, contact numbers, and email address. Where are you doing catechism? Who are you teaching? What is your day like as acatechist? What inspiring or touching moments have happened to you as a catechist? What is interesting about the way you teach the faith? What impact have you made on the people you are teaching?

Don’t be shy to let us know how you are spreading God’s Word in your own small ways.
The world is in need of heroes. Catechists are not just saving lives; they are saving souls. Are you one of them?
