Robin Sharma once said “Words can inspire, and words can destroy. Choose yours well.” One statement by a prominent individual gave proof of the power of words.
“It’s common sense. Will you see any animals where male is to male and female is to female? The animals are better. They know how to distinguish male from female. If we approve [of] male on male, female on female, then man is worse than animals.”
These simple words uttered by senatorial candidate and phenomenal Filipino-boxing-champion Manny Pacquiao in his campaign ignited a fire between two opposing ideologies.
Now Congressman Pacquiao is being criticized and condemned by various people, especially the LGBTQ Community. Famous celebrities from the Philippines like Vice Ganda, Boy Abunda and Aiza Seguerra convey their downright disapproval of Manny Pacquiao’s choice of words.
Even simple netizens, majority of which are within the LGBTQ Community bashed the Congressman’s personal and political life. Some fueled by their hurt on the said statement – comparing homosexuals to animals – some fired by their conviction about the topic.
The boxing-champion later on apologized via his Facebook Page and an interview. Expressing his sincere apology for hurting some people because of his statement:
“I’m sorry for hurting people by comparing homosexuals to animals. Please forgive me for those I’ve hurt”
On the other hand Pacquiao is getting numerous supporters from people who are against ‘same-sex marriage’ culture and those who are upholding the truth on marriage.
Campaigns like “I stand with Manny” and other petitions by many groups are defending him, encouraging people to vote for him and standing by with him. Most of which are inspired by the valor, passion and commitment of his faith.
The Catholic Church had already given its clear teaching, defining that same sex marriage is against the perpetuation of human race. Same sex marriage is not pro life because it does not participate to what we call pro- recreation.
It could easily be included in the “DEATH” culture which stands for Divorce, Euthanasia, Abortion, Tyrannical birth control and Homosexuality where it controls the perpetuation of human race abolishing the value of life – a divine gift.
Same sex marriage is very controversial nowadays and is one of the questions that should concern our political candidates especially in this period where we are discerning for our new leaders.
Points had been given by those who were for it and those who were against it. Some would say that it is their right; while some would say that it is immoral. People even quote verses from the bible or site laws just to substantiate their side.
Fight for what’s right, doing it right
Now don’t get anything wrong, we love our brothers and sisters – everyone; just as God loves us all – no exemptions whoever you are – we do not discriminate nor hate any homosexuals. The immoral acts that come with immoral relationships are what we fight against.
We now face a challenge, this present generation, to appropriately deal with our brothers and sisters who have this same sex attraction or orientation.
We cannot deny that in some ways we are part of the reason they carry heavy burdens. Those times we do them wrong, judging and degrading them by our unpleasant and rush words hurt.
So instead of throwing destructive words at them let us remember that these people we are insulting share the truth of being human created in the image and likeness of God.
Yes! We are commissioned to pronounce the truth! But not to the point of hurting others, we must do so in a very polite and encouraging manner leading them to examine deeply one’s life and renew it in healthy ways.
On the other hand, to our friends who belong to the third gender; just as you accept the truth that you belong in this orientation, you must also accept that same sex marriage is not good for the rest of humanity.
Better for everyone
If we try to look on the meaning of a family: it is a society born out of a family that has a father, mother and children.
A family is divinely designed so that it will be the foundation of humanity and perpetuate the human race. Now the question is can same union could produce or create a new life for the continuation of human race? The answer of course would always a big ‘NO,’ thus same sex union is does not benefit our society.
I do believe that persons who belong to the third gender are called to embrace and understand the sexuality they had. And in the process discover their value and dignity as a person capable of being good, keeping their heart chaste and hoping in the Lord – the Lord that never disappoints, the Lord that loves them expecting nothing in return.
Let us break free from hurtful words that imprison the love a person is capable of, it is a chaotic world we live in and in the evil that surrounds us only God can light our way and free us from darkness – leading us to His love. (Errol Fonte)
