When ‘love’ leads to death

Ah, to be young and in love is truly a magical thing. But the feeling of being in love doesn’t justify everything. Just because it “feels right” doesn’t mean that it is. When two people become sexually intimate in the way only married people are supposed to be, only heartbreak can happen – or even death. Not just of the relationship but of an actual human being, a baby, who is conceived in the thrill of the moment.

It’s this belief in “what feels right” that unwanted pregnancies happen and in many cases, abortions.

For 22-year old Hyun Kim, a pilgrim from South Korea, shared to me why she thinks abortion is an act of selfishness. She believes that the baby, a fully alive person, has the right to live. For her, there is nothing right with killing a baby. Hyun understands that even if the infant is still small it’s still a living human being. “Be in the position of the baby,” she stressed. According to her, people who have abortions care only about “the moment”. They fail to think about what it would be like to be in the shoes of babies who didn’t ask to be born but who are unwanted. In a world where abortion is still legal in many parts of the world, let us show compassion, fight for the rights of the unborn, and pray that they may have a future.
