Organizers release official WYD 2013 song

RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil—If young Catholics chanted about being “Firm in the Faith” (Firmes en la Fe) during the World Youth Day (WYD) last year in Spain, they will be humming for the “Hope of the Morning” (Esperanca do Amanhecer) next year in Brazil.

This as the organizers of the 27th WYD, which will be held in this city in July, has just released the official song for the WYD 2013 titled “Esperanca do Amanhecer” or “Hope of the Morning.

Rio de Janeiro Archbishop Orani Joao Tempesta led the launching of the official WYD song in an event for Brazilian youth last Sept. 14, coinciding the feast of the Exaltation of the Cross.

“We are releasing the official World Youth Day Rio 2013 song, keeping in mind that out of 180 submissions, it was a difficult choice to make in order to create a song that would convey the theme of WYD, ‘Go and make disciples among all nations,’” the prelate said.

The official WYD 2013 song was composed by Father Jose Candido in Portugese. According to a CNA report, translations of the song into various other languages are not yet finished.

The lyrics of the song is as follows:
