In celebration of Pro-Life Month, Pro-Life Philippines Foundation, Inc. will be awarding cash prizes to the potential winners of two PRO-LIFE CONTESTS.
This year, the foundation is holding a PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION and PRO-LIFE LIST COMPETITION. Entries of the finalists and the winners will be displayed at the Shrine of Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage Church in the Diocese of Antipolo for the Pro-Life Month Culminating Activity on February 28.
Since its founding, Pro-Life has been organizing activities that will promote the culture of life among Filipinos, especially among the youth. With time, the secretariat has become more dynamic in coming up with activities that will not only advocate pro-life ideas but also accommodate provide artistic outlets of expression for the youth.
The mechanics are as follows:
PRO-LIFE MONTH PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION
Theme: “BUHAY MO, MAHAL KO.”
Eligibility:
The contest is open to all Filipinos who are high school and college students as well as amateur and professional photographers.
· Photos must have been taken during the competition period, and should not have won nor have been published in any book or photography magazine.
· Participants may use any digital or film-based camera including camera phones. Entries must be printed in full color or black and white on any brand of photo paper in 8R size (8 inches x 10 inches)
· Manually retouched and/or painted over print outputs are not allowed.
· Creative effects done within the camera at the time of exposure e.g. multiple exposures, flash fill, lighting, filtration, etc. are allowed.
· Digital retouching on density, contrast adjustments, minor cropping, burning, and dodging may be tolerated, although major manipulation of main images through adding or subtracting are not allowed.
· Members of the Pro-Life Philippines’ Secretariat, Board of Advisers, and Board of Trustees and their relatives up to second degree of consanguinity of are not eligible to join this contest
Submission of Entries
Each entry should be submitted in a short brown envelope labeled at the back with PRO-LIFE PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION. Upon submission, contestants must log-in in the contestant’s logbook found in the secretariat.
The name of the contest participant should not appear on the face of the entry.
Entries should be submitted to Ellen Sanchez at the Pro-Life Philippines Foundation Office located at San Lorenzo Ruiz Student Catholic Center, 2486 Legarda St., Sampaloc, Manila (near Legarda Station of the LRT Line 2).
Deadline for submission of entries is on February 24, 2010 at 5 p.m. – Pro-Life office

All entries become the property of Pro-Life Philippines, which will have the right to reproduce, exhibit, or publish the images for promotional purposes, indicating/acknowledging the photographer. Pro-Life Philippines may display the prints in a public venue, or publish them for the purpose of promoting pro-life advocacies, without any financial compensation to the photographers.
There will be no pre-registration of photographers. Only the actual entries in photo form will require registration.

Contest Mechanics
Eligibility & Mechanics
· The contest is open to Filipino elementary and high school students only.
· Each student is tasked to come up with a list of activities, ways, means, or interventions that promote the pro-life cause.
· The activities, ways, means, or interventions to be provided in the list can be as simple as a household chore or can be as complex as writing position letters to higher officials.
· For guidance in listing the activities, ways, means, or interventions and on how to make them pro-life, contestants can refer to pamphlets, brochures, and articles uploaded in the foundation’s website (www.prolife.org.ph).
· The list must be typewritten (font size 12, double spaced per item in the list).
· A panel of judges coming from the Pro-Life Board of Trustees and Secretariat will sort out the lists of the contestants.
· The entry with the most number of pro-life activities, ways, means, or interventions is the winner.
