Message: Bishop Nereo Odchimar on YouthPinoy!
Congratulations and warmest greetings to men and women behind the launching of the YouthPinoy website as CBCP’s official portal for the Filipino Catholic youth.
I, as CBCP President, stand in full support for this noble project initiated by the Episcopal Commission on Youth and the Media Office of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP). Pope Benedict XVI is inviting all people especially the young to bring evangelization work to cyberspace. “Young people in particular, I appeal to you: bear witness to your faith through the digital world!” the Pope urged. The late Pope John Paul II used to remind us that “the growth of the internet in recent years provides an unprecedented opportunity for expanding the Church’s missionary outreach, since it has become a primary source of information and communication for so many of our contemporaries, especially the young.”
Nowadays, we have so much technology but sometimes we don’t use it to its fullest potential. Thus, it is our greatest challenge to think seriously on how we can better employ these new technologies to make the Gospel known, to reach all the people with the message of Jesus Christ, so that the Good News of God’s infinite love for humanity will resound in new ways across our increasingly technological world. It is my hope, therefore, that this joint project of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines Episcopal Commission on Youth and Office on Mass Media, will be successful and constant in providing tremendous resources for deepening one’s knowledge about the Catholic faith that many people will be drawn to a deeper faith in Christ especially the young who increasingly turn to the world of cyberspace as a window on the world.

Message: Bishop Joel Baylon on YouthPinoy!
Dear YP friends and fellow workers,

Congratulations for a work well done!
On the eve of the elections Mrs. Henrietta De Villa, National PPCRV chairperson, called me up and, among other things, congratulated and thanked me for the wonderful response and all-out support PPCRV got from YouthPinoy volunteers. She was really very happy and impressed that so many young people came to show their support for the PPCRV-YouthPinoy collaboration for the just concluded national elections.
I am writing this email to express my appreciation and heart-felt gratitude to all of those who gave their time, efforts and skills to contribute to the highly successful, first ever automated elections in our country.
The speedy acquisition of results is something short of a miracle, considering that in the past we had to wait for months before we could have considerable information about the election results. I am certain this was also partly due to the generous contributions from our young volunteers who helped gather, tally, post and report the results of the counting from all over the Philippines.
I thank God for all of you, dear young volunteers of YouthPinoy! May He bless you with great peace and joy!
In Christ,
+Joel Z. Baylon, D. D.
