Liveloud, an advocacy that promotes and declares Christ through Catholic music, will return to the stage after three years of doing such events virtually due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
This year’s concert theme is “Revere”, inspired by Romans 11:36, “For all things were created by him, and all things exist through him and for him. To God be the glory forever! Amen.”
YouthPinoy, had the opportunity to talk to this year’s band, Alex Gopez (Worship Leader), Dominique Bernabe (drums), Ysrael Dumasig (bass), Quiano Alava (acoustic guitar), Don Mangrubang (electric guitar), Jafeth Holganza (electric guitar), Miguel Panagsagan (keyboards), Chim Tolentino (keyboards), Pamela Arboleda (vocals), Shannen Montero (vocals), Elyzza Cugal (vocals), Frederick Lico (vocals), and Nicko Guizzagan (vocals).
Let’s get to know these artists and musicians as they talk about their goals, advocacy and mission.
Tell us about the band and your journey of knowing Christ.
We all came from the family ministry CFC Youth For Christ, so it was not hard for us to work together. We have different journeys and maybe more than our gift of music, it’s the passion to serve God that crossed our paths.
How did Liveloud start? Can you share with us your journey of becoming missionaries thru music?
Liveloud started back in 2008 with a simple desire – to create an environment of worship for people who serves and love God.
Our passion for music was already there since or even before we joined YFC. Some of us, actually learn to play instruments out of the need to provide what’s lacking in the service, may it be a drummer, bassist, guitarist, etc. and in that process we encountered God.
In your mission/evangelization adventure, what are your joys, struggles, challenges, or difficulties?
There are so many struggles, especially with us, young people. But the most challenging is finding time and balance. In YFC, we are taught to have fullness and be excellent in our personal life, study, work, business, family and our relationships. We believe there is no formula in making things easy, especially in out service. But because of God’s love for us, and also His sacrifices for us, we chose to praise Him and serve Him 100%.
What makes you feel like a child?
Witnessing someone’s life change through the music that we create (that God create) and seeing them happy. Knowing that with our little efforts, we have been part of that happiness is refreshing and fulfilling. More than us playing and leading them through music, this is what we pursue – the change in the lives of the young people today because they have God in their lives.
What are your simple joys?
Aside from music, Food! Definitely food.
How do you define joy?
Joy is simple. Joy is when you hear people singing for God. It remind us that Life is beautiful with Him.
In where Liveloud is now, what are your other dreams? Do you still have anything you want to achieve as a band?
Liveloud as an advocacy has a lot to discover, to grow and to expand. There’s actually no limit to its potential. But as a band we are here because of one thing – His call for us to play music for Him and for His people.
One of our dreams to serve and stage Liveloud in the World Youth Day was answered. We will be in Lisbon this August! It’s exciting!!
This is His grace and we are here to follow His call. Liveloud belongs to God and His people. The Liveloud movement and this advocacy exist because we desire for more people, especially the youth, to know God and His amazing love for them.
Any message to the young people who are feeling lost and still finding their purpose?
Love your family. Love what you have now. Keep on trying to discover things, your talent, your skills. God gave you gifts to discover, pursue and find them. What do you love to do? Do you dance, sing, play music, write? What are your passions? We believe if we focus on what we have and keep on pursuing God’s plan for us, He will meet us where we are.
What is the band’s anchor verse? Why?
Psalm 30:11-12
Hear, O Lord, have mercy on me; Lord, be my helper.”
You changed my mourning into dancing; you took off my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness.
Because we are created to Live loud. Our being and existence is a living evidence that God is alive and faithful.
Liveloud for God everyday.
The concert is scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on June 12 at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Manila.
